Unable to sleep at night, from his bedroom window he notices that there is unsual activity taking place under the cover of darkness at Kilcrown Pier. He is determined to find out exactly what is going on, even if he has to go to extraordinary lengths to do so. Amidst all of this, Cathal must fit into a hostile new school environment and when he strikes up a friendship with the roguish Shanahan brothers, things get even more complicated.

This novel charts one boy’s journey from the security of living with his family into a new world of challenge and adventure where he quickly has to learn who can and can’t be trusted and where fear and courage fight for supremacy as Cathal negotiates his way around his new life.

Brendan Griffin

Brendan Griffin is a native of the small rural community of Keel on the Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry.
Secrets of a Haunted Winter is his second novel, a follow on from his 2013 debut novel, Secrets of a
Moonlit River. Both novels were penned by Brendan when he was a publican in the village of Castlemaine
between 2007 and 2010.

Since 2011, Brendan is a TD for Kerry. He lives in his native Keel with his wife Róisín and their son, Micheál.
